Until now,  Layout products have used dongles to ensure security. This has now changed.

The new Keycode protection system has revolutionized the whole concept of software protection.
The new keycode server,  which was launched by the beginning of the year 2002,   is online 24 hours
per day,  7 days per week, in order to automatically process all KeyCode requests required to run
Layout products.

This means that you will no longer have to order products and wait for them to be shipped. If you
have a Layout product with a dongle, you will be able to purchase other Layout products without
dongles and use KeyCodes to access them instead. Further, you will be able to upgrade your
software online.

Users are now able to purchase Layout products -without a dongle - by following these steps:

1.  Download a copy of the product from our  Layout Store

2.  Purchase a Product ID number (a proof of purchase) from a local dealer, in order to request
a KeyCode from Layout ’s KeyCode Server.  Once the KeyCode is returned, the user can activate
and run the application immediately.

Users can easily upgrade their existing package by downloading free upgrades from Layout ’s
website. For payable upgrades, users must follow step #2 in the section above.

Dealers can request KeyCodes from customers ’locations, and KeyCodes will be sent to those
locations. Dealers are no longer required to make several trips to a customer ’s location in order
to install software.

The KeyCode Server began issuing KeyCodes for Kalimat 3.0, ArabicXT 5.0, FitInXT 1.0,
StripitXT 1.5 and for Al-Rassam Al-Arabi 3.0.  Note that Kalimat 3.0, ArabicXT 5.0, FitInXT 1.0,
and StripitXT 1.5 currently use a dongle, i.e.  their KeyCode protection system is a "Dongle Based
KeyCode Scheme ".

As for Al-Rassam Al-Arabi ’s KeyCode system, it is a "Hardware based keycode scheme ",
dongle-less and thus, dependent on the machine ’s hardware.

Al-Rassam Al-Arabi requires a KeyCode in order for it to be activated. The KeyCode is dependent on the hardware of the computer where it is installed. Once activated, the application can only run on the computer
it was activated for. If the user wishes to run the application on a different computer, then he needs to
de-activate the application from the current computer and activate it on another computer.   Layout has a
dedicated server that accepts Activation and de-activation requests by e-mail and answers the user in a very short time.

When launching Al-Rassam Al-Arabi for the first time, a dialog box appears prompting the user to enter the KeyCode. If he has not already requested a KeyCode, then, he must follow
the "Requesting a KeyCode "procedure below:

b) He should fill in the necessary information in all the fields.

c) The KeyCode request needs to be sent to Layout Ltd in order to be processed and the KeyCode generated. There are Two ways for sending the keycode request:

c. 1) By email:

- The user should Select "Save"; a dialog box with the default file name "Al Rassam KeyCode request.txt "
appears.

- Then, he should select where to save this file.

- He should E-mail Layout with the file "Al Rassam KeyCode request.txt " attached, to "keycode@layoutltd.com "

- The Keycode will be automatically processed by our server, and the server will send it back to him by return e-mail within a very short time.

c. 2) By fax- The user should:

- Select "Print ".

- Fax the printed KeyCode request form to the following Fax # +961 1 512 570. Country Code is "961",
the Area Code is "1", the Fax is "512 670", that's in Beirut Lebanon.

- Once the Keycode is processed by our operators, it will be sent back to the user by fax. This might take
a longer time than by e-mail and is not available after working hours and on Saturday and Sunday.

Once the user receives his KeyCode, he can proceed by entering the KeyCode in the "KeyCode Request
Dialog ".If successful, he can start using Al-Rassam Al-Arabi.

The keycode of Al-Rassam Al-Arabi is dependent on the machine where the user requested the keycode from. The software will not run using the same keycode on another machine, or if some hardware specifications
of the machine change. Before he can run it on a different machine, he must deactivate Al-Rassam Al-Arabi and request another keycode.

There is no limit on how many times he activates and deactivates Al-Rassam Al-Arabi, but he is limited to
3 times activation without deactivation. In case he exceeds this limit, then, there will be an extra charge.

- Select deactivate from Al-Rassam Al-Arabi menu.A message box appears telling him that deactivation
has been successful, and the Deactivation Request dialog appears.

- Select where to save the file "Al Rassam Deactivation request.txt ".

- Send the "Deactivation request "to Layout Ltd. so that he can later send a new "Keycode request "for
a different machine. The "Deactivation request "is sent to Layout Ltd the same way a KeyCode request
is sent: By E-mail or by fax to the same e-mail and fax number.

1* The KeyCode is case sensitive so the user must make sure that he is typing the lower and upper case characters as they appear.

2* If the user receives the KeyCode by E-mail, he can copy the KeyCode from the PDF file and paste it
directly in the KeyCode dialog.
